DRI: Disaster Resiliency Initiative

Disaster Resiliency Initiative

The project aims to mobilize the permaculture/regenerative culture community to:

  1. Design, create, and maintain a high-quality repository of information on mitigating, responding to, and recovering from climate-related disasters using regenerative design principles, with a preliminary focus on WNC.

  2. Develop a series of manuals/guides based on this information.

  3. Disseminate this information to key community members, such as disaster organizations, other non-profits, community leaders, farmers, and work with them to ensure they can put it to use effectively.

  4. Weave a network of communities and professionals that will continue to support this work and one another.

Disaster Resiliency Guides

Here are the latest versions of our collaboratively created Guides. We'd love to get your input and expertise! To contribute, please join our DRI Workgroup space on PcX, and come to our monthly Town Halls (check PcX ARC and PINA social media for details).

Guides are accompanied by printable checklists, also downloadable here.

Next up: A beta release of the Hurricane Guide. We are also working on guides for Heat, Flooding, and a General Disaster Resiliency Guide. Further down the road Earthquakes, Wind, and others that you request.

Each guide points to resources for a Deeper Dive, and we have an online repository of trusted resources with collections that accompany each manual.

NOTE ON OUR RELEASE FLOW - A Beta guide is not ready for wide distribution. These are ready for community input. We need your collective wisdom, expertise, and knowledge of resources. To contribute JOIN OUR Disaster Resiliency Workgroup and post your suggestions. OR you can send an email to disaster@pcx.earth. Please specify which guide you're commenting on.
